A lightning strike takes out your local substation...and that old generator that hides in the shed and is started up a couple of times a year suddenly becomes valuable! Power is supposed to be off for at least a day (probably 2), but fridge and freezers are happily chugging away and PC's are working fine... The (not so smug now) neighbours have got a lead running into their property, in return for enough beer to cover the 1L per hour running cost so they don't lose all their food! :Laugh: So have you ever found something useful that you thought you'd never use?
