Why did they close St Pauls?

After all...."The London Fire Brigade said it had not advised the authorities at St Paul's to close the cathedral for fire safety reasons, saying it was satisfied that there were "no fire safety concerns with the camp itself"......and of course "The cathedral refused to make public that advice or say who gave it".

Surely then it can't have had anything to with their backers could it?

And why is it apparently opening again, given there is no real change in the physical situation?...

Can it be because...

The chancellor of St Paul's Cathedral is to step down from his post, the BBC understands.

Canon Dr Giles Fraser, who has been sympathetic to the protest camp outside the London landmark, is expected to announce his resignation within days.

Differences over the handling of the protest are thought to have prompted his decision, says the BBC's religious affairs correspondent Robert Pigott.

St Paul's, which closed last week, could reopen to the public on Friday.

The cathedral was shut over fears of "significant issues" with health and safety concerning the Occupy London Stock Exchange (OLSX) camp.'Radical figure'

When it was first set up, Canon Fraser said he was happy for the demonstrators to stay and asked police to scale back their presence.

He has refused to sanction the use of force to remove the protesters as pressure mounts on the cathedral to join in legal action against them, considering it a resigning matter, our correspondent said.

It is understood that Canon Fraser now considers his position untenable and is expected to announce his resignation from the governing cathedral chapter within the next few days.

Mr Pigott said the canon had become one of the most radical figures on the Church of England's progressive wing, developing a reputation for tackling difficult issues head-on.

Heaven forbid that they can't countenace tackling difficult issues can they....!

So we have the perpetuators of one of the biggest fables in history in bed with some of those responsible for the biggest con in history...

"Bring us your poor, your tired, your huddled masses"....because the corporate world needs cheap labour!....and we'll turn a blind eye and screw all of you as well - including the choir boys!

Personally I would hope the protestors are using the steps of St Pauls for what they are there for - a urinal !

Yep, he's been ousted...

St Paul's protest: Canon Chancellor Giles Fraser quits

The canon chancellor of St Paul's Cathedral has resigned from his post.

Dr Giles Fraser has been sympathetic to the Occupy anti-capitalist protest camp outside, which has led to the cathedral's closure.

Jumped before being pushed!

Now expect a hardliner to push to disband the camp!

I bet they are soiling their robes at the thought of our pigs behaving the same as their American counterparts !

Mind you a thought occurs..... If St Paul's were to reopen and plod gets heavy as usual if I were in the camp I might think of heading for the nearest 'sanctuary'...

The response of the advocates of an imaginary friend would be quite interesting....

Since didn't that imaginary friend's son have a beef with money lenders?.... :Winky:

Edit:

In a short statement, he ( Dr Fraser) added: "I resigned because I believe that the chapter has set on a course of action that could mean there will be violence in the name of the church."

Violence in the name of the church?....nothing new there then!

Surprise, surprise....

Cover-up at St Paul's

A highly critical report into the moral standards of bankers has been suppressed by St Paul's Cathedral amid fears that it would inflame tensions over the Occupy London tent protest.

The report, based on a survey of 500 City workers who were asked whether they thought they were worth their lucrative salaries and bonuses, was due to be published last Thursday, the day that the Canon Chancellor of St Paul's, Giles Fraser, resigned in protest at the church's tough stance.

But publication of the report, by the St Paul's Institute, has been delayed in an apparent acknowledgement that it would leave the impression that the cathedral was on the side of the protesters.

The Independent on Sunday understands that the decision has upset a number of clergy, who hoped that the report would prove that the church was not detached from a financial crisis that had its heart yards from the cathedral itself. The decision will fuel the impression that the wider established church is attempting to stifle debate about the tent protest, as leading members of the Church of England, including the Archbishop of Canterbury, have failed to comment publicly about Occupy London.

A spokesman for St Paul's Cathedral said: "It has been decided to delay publishing this report until further notice as it wouldn't get the proper debate it deserves in light of the present circumstances."

The spokesman refused to comment what the report's findings were, but it is understood it raised profound concerns about the banking sector's willingness to accept responsibility for the financial crisis.

Such a critical analysis, coming from the institute which is described as part of St Paul's Cathedral's "wider mission", would be seen as highly inflammatory at a time when the church is going to the High Court to attempt to remove 200 tents from its land.

The f*ckers are all in it together...!
