  1. Sorry about late reply only come here mostly weekends. that BUFFALO LinkStation you have is realy only good for backups and as a bit torrent downloader to get the full use out of it you need to setup a ddns or get a static IP (My 1st nas was a LG one drive and my 2nd was a Dlink two drive) and i had to do this for them to work My 3rd nas the synology is a different breed of nas you have your user name and pass but then you also have an account for all the users of the nas (you still have full control of it) Has your BUFFALO LinkStation got samba file support as I may be of help for setting up linking to videos on it for you i will have a read up on it too Dave
  2. I'd say a NAS is what your looking for and the best bit is you can Spread the Cost out by getting a NAS unit and putting any old HDD in it to get you going then at a later date upgrade that drive for real nas drives. If you go down this road I'd say get a 2bay unit and say away from the single bay units. I use a synology NAS but the are ones by qnap / Drobo but stay away from ones like Western Digital / Netgear / Seagate they lock them down too much. You can get a Synology DS218j 2 Bay Desktop NAS Enclosure for about £150 + any old HDD for the time being Then at a later date get a nas hard drive if your going for 4TB or less get a wd red if it's 4TB or more then go for a ironwolf ( you will need to get the same drive again at a even later date so bear this in mind ) Say you got the DS218j for £150 then got a 2TB WD Red for £70 ( you can get a 4TB ironwolf for £105 ) Then at a even later date you get the 2nd 2TB WD Red for RAID this is how to setup the nas so it see's the two drives as one and will make an extra backup of your DATA The overall cost is £150 + 2x£70 = £290 daveb47 if you do go down the NAS road I will be happy to help get you get started on things like the user interface and software. here is a youtube video so you will have an idea about what you will be getting into if you do get one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oR208STagkw
  3. Use gmail But you only need one account. say the one you set up is all1@gmail.com you don't use this as it's the main one what you do is use the + trick ie all1+twitter@gmail.com all1+twitter1@gmail.com all1+twitter2@gmail.com all1+twitter3@gmail.com Your inbox at all1@gmail.com will get all the emails from this. The are some sites that are still running older email software and the + trick will not work but i'd say 80% of the time it's good.
  4. 20 years go by so fast. I remember the old day's when the pad got shutdown reopend got shutdown and reopend again. how many times did that happen (I think it was 5 or 6 it defo felt like it)
  5. I was looking into this some years ago and the cost was to high. So I went on BT FTTC @ 55/10 (55mb down / 10mb up) If your going after real FTTP the upload and download speed are the same 100mb/100mb 0r 1gb/1gb and anywhere in between. You don't need faster then 1gb as most of the internet delivery protocols are not that fast (older versions of firefox max out at 300mb when you download over it) this was the one i was looking at. https://www.hyperoptic.com/

    Drones

The battery on my machbox size one is 8 minutes and 15 minutes to charge it up. I'd say the bigger the better and if i ever get a 2nd drone it will have propellers the same size or bigger then a CD When I put the red propellers on my machbox size Drone it was better to fly. The black propellers that come on the Drone were 2.5cm the red ones that were in the box but needed me to fit them were 3cm

    Drive problem

Is this the OS drive or a 2nd drive in the pc or is it on usb If it's the first it's going to be a hard to fix if it's the 2nd or 3rd get a free app called partition wizard. https://www.partitionwizard.com/ Install to windows run it and see if the drive shows up on this and post back what it say's if this works for you.

    Drones

I have a Micro Drone 4" big and it's not that easy to fly "can not get it to hover on the spot" but I had a go on my mates 20" Drone and that one was a bit easier to fly So I'm going on the assumption the bigger the Drone the more stability you get in the air.
  9. Here are some on amazon the one i like is the Lloytron at the bottom SIEMEN https://www.amazon.co.uk/SIEMENS-Wirefree-Wireless-Doorbell-Resistant/dp/B013SZHVG4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1474878236&sr=8-2&keywords=MP3+Doorbell Byronhttps://www.amazon.co.uk/Byron-MP001-Wireless-Pre-Loaded-Sounds/dp/B006EK73JG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1474878236&sr=8-3&keywords=MP3+Doorbell This looks like the best one (one of the two you put in the OP) Honeywellhttps://www.amazon.co.uk/Honeywell-Portable-Doorbell-Extender-DC917NG/dp/B01C92I4DQ/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1474878236&sr=8-4&keywords=MP3+Doorbell Siemens https://www.amazon.co.uk/Siemens-Wirefree-Portable-Wireless-DCWF25/dp/B00WGO8H2G/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1474878236&sr=8-5&keywords=MP3+Doorbell Siemens https://www.amazon.co.uk/SIEMENS%C2%AE-Ambience-Wirefree-Wireless-Resistant/dp/B00UW3Y0HE/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1474878236&sr=8-6&keywords=MP3+Doorbell Siemens https://www.amazon.co.uk/Siemens-Cubist-Wirefree-Portable-Wireless/dp/B00WGHFMNK/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1474878236&sr=8-10&keywords=MP3+Doorbell Lightwave https://www.amazon.co.uk/LightwaveRF-Wireless-Doorbell-Chime-LW6007/dp/B00UBEJNTE/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1474878236&sr=8-13&keywords=MP3+Doorbell Lloytron https://www.amazon.co.uk/Digital-Plug--Wireless-Chime-MiPs-/dp/B00VPN4S3G/ref=sr_1_48?ie=UTF8&qid=1474878449&sr=8-48&keywords=MP3+Doorbell
  10. I don't know if WD still do it but back in the day when they started doing Network drives they had DRM on them if you tried to stream some pirate movies and music it did not work I think it was the same thing that the PS3 did you had to download the file 1st and hope it did not blacklist that file from downloading as I say I don't know if the newer WD Network drives do this but the 1st lot did. here is the link http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/12/07/western_digital_drm_crippled_harddrive/ The one thing I will say is to get a NAS that can hold 2 or more HDDs as they are on 24/7 and the one drive units run to hot after a bit. If it's speed your after run in RAID 0 but if the data is important run one of the redundancy RAIDs for speed 2x2TB will give you fast 4TB space or 2x3TB in a redundancy mode will give you 3TB of safe data (if a drive fails you just pop it out pop a new one in give it a hour or two and your good to go)
  11. Just had a look and if I was going to get a NAS today it will be the DiskStation DS216 and for you 2x2TB WD REDs.
  12. Depends on what you will use it for if it's for media (Pic music video) then QNAP are the best the ones that have a HDMI on can run KODI from the nas the newer ones can even do 4K now. But if your looking for the best that can hold all your documents and let you access it all from a laptop tablet to mobile phone anywere Then Synology are the best. And then if all you are using it for is backup and recovery then Drobo are the best. I'm on my 3nd NAS now my 1st was a LG only had 1TB was OK till i run out of space (the HDD was fixed in and pre formatted) my 2nd one was a D-link had to put 2x1TB drives in it the UI was s**t. my 3rd is a Synology DS213air not the best one they do but it will on the last 2 i had it has 2x3TB drives in it WD-reds and after 2 years still going like the day i got it even better as the updates make it better now.

    Independence Day

I've been looking at Statistics covering the last 40+ years we have been in the EU from Internet sources (all bias in this day and age) I'd like to comment about one of the Statistics I've come across it's the U.K veto to block laws and treaty's from the E.U. The lowest source on the net i come across say's we have used the veto 55 times in the 40+ years we have been in the E.U the highest source say's 72 times how meny times have the E.U overruled that veto the source that say's 55 say's we were overruled 55 times the source that say's 72 say's overruled 72 times that's 100% of the U.K veto's that got overruled in the end. All the veto does is delay what the E.U is going to do. The closest we got to winning a veto was the single currency (but we won that one didn't we) no we only delayed it you see one of the veto's was David Cameron's veto to block a new EU-wide treaty to salvage the single currency the EU appeared 26-1 against Cameron at the time. UK could lose its veto right in EU if the EU had it's way and we stayed in by getting out we can still have EU laws and follow treaties BUT they will have to be passed by the UK parliament first (why do the IN vote think this is bad for the UK) And don't get me stared on the single market part of the EU.
  14. I know the best way for a synology nas it's called quickconnect (you setup an account on synology website then setup the nas to link to that account) All you have to do then is log in to website to get all your files or use the apps for music-video download manager. A lot of the nas manufacturers have some type of setup like this now as dynamic DNS is a pain to setup some times see if edimax offer this. Jamer if i remember from a past post you have a synology it's one of the best for this. The top 4 NAS manufacturers are QNAP Drobo Synology & G Drive is one is best for mac
  15. Did you find what you were looking for mate. It's the BQ-CC18 I have. The is a quick charger too but I don't know the model no for it.
