  1. The German's will be on the winning side this time
  2. Poor coverage - it's very hit and miss where I live... come to think of it so is freeview - never had problems with analogue
  3. I've got a 12 bore but I wouldn't use it unless I thought the burgular had one too which, as the current law stands in principal, would be justifiable force... Wouldn't like to test that though as I may need the gun in the event of the forthcoming complete collapse of society! Lol
  4. Easy peasy smash the ###### around the head until he appears not to be moving, go find a hammer from your toolkit, place firmly into the intruders hand then ring the police. Ta-da justifiable force, exactly the defence they rely on when somebody dies in custody :D
  5. I just don't think that he's a good example of the point you're trying to make: So your friends tell you that you closely resemble someone that the police are looking for and you think it's a good idea to go parade yourself in front of a couple of coppers, who will have your apparent likeness fresh in their minds, in order to assert your innocence of commiting a crime that has become such an emotive issue that it's a dead cert they are going to arrest you? Braver man than me gunga din Surely there is a time to be confrontational, when the old bill are out of order and don't have the current support of the public to be heavy handed, and there is a time to walk away? In my day street wise was how to avoid getting nicked, mugged, stabbed or shot - in that order :D
  6. And he was surprised he got nicked - f*ck me sparks is he dolly dimple or what?? Stick your hand in the lion's mouth and see if it bites - of course it bites - that's its bloody nature!! It's what I said about the kids not being street wise - I learnt at a very early age not to take the p!ss out of the old bill - they don't appreciate it at all... In that situation I'd have gone back to my flat and not come out until I'd grown a beard and even then I'd make sure I kept well out of the gaze of a copper Muppet!!
  7. I heard a psychologist saying that a riot holds a kind of excitement for those caught up in one and I can see it brings out a pack mentality - also perhaps the kids these days don't seem to play on the streets the same way my generation did - perhaps there's a connection there? I'll tell you a story One night a mate and I were coming back from a night club and walked through Lewisham about 2 am, we came across a shoe shop with a bricked window and the alarm going off. There were expensive shoes all over the pavement but we didn't touch a thing - what we did do was get off the main road before the old bill showed up because being at the scene quite stoned / drunk would have made us a too easy target for a fit up! The kids these days are quite naive and not at all street wise like their parent's generation. Then again when I was young the police could and would punch you if they didn't have evidence to charge you with an offence they knew you had committed and if you played up at school you'd get the cane rather than be suspended and miss out on valuable education. A high percentage of kids on estates all over the UK are illiterate because of policies like that...
  8. I think I would sit them down and have a very long chat with them and find out why they had involved themselves in looting and explain to them how wrong it was and say that it would remain on their conscience for a very long time, if not the rest of their life if they didn't hand themselves in to the police. If they were old enough to make the decision to loot then they must make the decision as to whether they are punished for it or not - the responsibility lies with them. If it happened to any of mine it would only have been a spur of the moment thing, definitely not pre-planned, none of them would or ever have gone out with the intention of stealing. Would I drag them down to the local nick and hand them over to the old bill - no way Then again I've got very intelligent, reasonable and responsible kids who all have a sound grasp of right and wrong...
  9. Yes - the French made their riots last for three weeks not three days - come on UK - must do better next time, preferably when the prisons are full to capacity, there are only 1200 places left and counting Lol
  10. On the surface, commendable but in reality as an EDP member whose true colours will out nationalist ideals and policies only ever work in a war situation where a high percentage of the population lend their support, by war I mean a real war where a nation is threatened not the phoney "let's follow the mad yank" ones we engage in, but if allowed to flourish uncontrollably in peace time nationalism tends to create conflict and in it's extreme form civil war. What we could do with is more clearly defined divisions between our political parties as there were in the past - Labour supported the working classes (left) - Tories supported the upper classes (right) and Liberals were always a waste of time... but at least you knew where you were and you mostly got a balance of policies from both left and right perspectives. The situation now is there's so little difference between Labour and Tory you couldn't get a fag paper between them and so you get parties like the EDP who are extreme right - which is Ok as long as it's tempered by an extreme left party...
  11. Wow I've just checked and you can buy these in the UK... http://www.flashwear.com/online_store/air-swimmers-shark-rc-blimp.cfm
  12. From what the deputy prime minister was saying yesterday I think they're going to resume community service sentences soon (they've probably filled all the prisons). He was talking about offenders wearing gitmo style orange jump suits so the public could recognise them - I thought we'd done away with the stocks as punishment. The police were also commended for protecting the Olympic site, with no mention of which night / nights they were doing that - day one maybe? It would explain why there were so few of them on the streets of Hackney
  13. Enoch Powell's speech could possibly apply to the race riots of the 1970s or 80's but not now - the disenfranchisement has crossed the race barrier, listen to the way the white youth talk "dem a speak jus' like a black man an' ting, init"

  15. I don't think they're being soft in the majority of cases One woman, a care worker with a two year old child, was charged with receiving stolen goods (4 TV's) and having pleaded not guilty the case was referred to crown court. A plea from her lawyer that unless she was given bail she would lose her job and her child would be taken into care was ignored by the magistrate and she was remanded in custody until the crown hearing date! And what's going to be her defence in front of a jury - "I didn't know they were nicked"? Stupid cow - she's ruined her life and her child's...
  16. /http://photoshoplooter.tumblr.com/ 64 beautiful pages of the best photoshoplooters. All profits (£4 per copy) go to Shelter and Kids’ Company, two charities that are helping those affected by the riots. :Teeth:
  17. In the courts the people that have been caught are being charged with burglary and public order offences, not rioting, not looting, because under the law the government (via the local police forces), rather than the insurance companies, would be held responsible for compensation costs for failing to uphold law and order for both of these offences, that's why in his two speeches on the subject the prime minister didn't mention either "rioting" or "looting" - it's all a clever ploy to avoid culpability. What bears this out is the initial response by the police who on the first few nights seemingly didn't respond to those rioting and looting but was this by design? In the event of rioting the official tactic is: 1. Identify the leaders / instigators 2. Deploy "snatch squads" to remove them 3.Contain the remaining crowd ("kettling") In the event of public order offences the official tactic is: 1.Observe / record the offence 2.If this includes breaking and entry of a premises - secure the premises after the fact 3.Arrest suspects using aquired evidence Most of the culprets who pleaded guilty have been referred to crown court because magistrates do not have the sentencing powers, burglary = 6 months as opposed to 10 years if a case is heard at crown court.
  18. 5.South African 1970's 1oz Krugerrands Bought 6 of these from my bother-in-law for £600.00 a pop whilst he was going through a messy divorce two years ago... Worth up to a grand a piece now! :Smiler:
  19. The judge has said that he didn't want Breivik to use the court as a platform from which the gunman could contact either of the two cells that he was working with... He's being kept in solitary etc...
  20. Isn't that the bit they don't want him to do?
  21. He obviously thought he'd have a moment of fame and glory in court - why grant him the satisfaction?
  22. Been watching this on Aljazeera TV - the guy had registered himself as a farmer in order to obtain large quantities of fertilizer and police described the weapon he used on the island as a "machine pistol" a fully automatic weapon (if the gun laws in Norway are like the old UK gun laws this type of weapon would've come under a part 5 firearms certificate usually only granted to gunsmiths, although I knew a retired military officer who legally owned a working sterling sub machine gun back in the day). From his photos the guy looks like a male model! Glad you're ok dj.
